Gateway 17-inch P-7808u FX laptop

gateway-17-inch-p-7808u-fx-laptop.jpg

The Gateway P-7808u FX laptop is a 17-incher that’s geared towards multimedia freaks, and aside from the lackluster WXGA panel, the specs aren’t half bad for the price. We’re talkin’ a 2GHz Core 2 Quad CPU, NVIDIA’s GeForce 9800M GTS graphics card (1GB of GDDR3 included), 4GB of DDR3 memory, an 8x dual-layer DVD writer, 500GB SATA hard drive, 5-in-1 multicard reader, a stately nine-cell battery, WiFi, three USB 2.0 sockets, FireWire, eSATA and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR. All 9.05 pounds can be ordered up from J&R right now for $1,699.99, and hey, they’ll even cover the shipping.

Black Samsung NC10 slightly cheaper

black-samsung-nc10-slightly-cheaper.jpg

I had been trying to decide between the Samsung NC10 and HP 2140 for a while. We’re a little more intrigued by the VIA Nano-powered Samsung NC20, but those of you whose hearts beat rapturously for the Black Samsung NC10 take note: we’re told the newly-refreshed model with the biggie-sized trackpad and larger battery is now shipping to customers, and what’s more, the price tag’s been lowered a hair to $469 from $499.

Another Acer Aspire One Netbook Model

another-acer-aspire-one-laptop-model.jpg

We snooped around pretty heavily at Acer’s CeBIT booth here in Hannover, but we definitely didn’t see a single Aspire One with a port layout like this. That said, we wouldn’t put it past the company to push out an oh-so-barely different version of the Acer Aspire One Netbook that has already proven remarkably popular. It

Sony VAIO P best buy going for €599.95 with T-Mobile

sony-vaio-p-best-buy-going-for-599.95-with-t-mobile.jpg

If you’ve somehow managed to answer yes (or “ja,” as it were) to all three of those inquiries, T-Mobile Germany has a deal for you.T-Mobile Germany will begin selling the entry-level Sony Vaio P (1.33GHz, 60GB HDD) for 599 euros including 19% VAT with a two-year web’n'walk Connect L data contract. The retail price of the P in Germany is 999 euros, so although the long-term cost is higher because of the recurring contract fee and the P is the most expensive of T-Mobile’s subsidized PC selection (see screen capture below),

MacBook Pro 17-inch Laptop review

macbook-pro-17-inch-laptop-review.jpg

The MacBook Pro 17-inch Laptop base configuration (a not-super-cheap $2,799) is outfitted with a 2.66GHz CPU, 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, and the switchable NVIDIA GeForce 9400M / 9600M GT GPUs. The version we have came fully loaded with a 2.93GHz CPU, 8GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD, and (yes) an anti-glare display. Needless to say, performance wasn’t much of an issue — but the final cost ($4,899) might be a little extreme for most.

Acer Aspire One D150 Laptop hands-on

acer-aspire-one-d150-laptop-hands-on.jpg

Acer’s N280-powered Aspire One D150 has already been reviewed, but considering that we’ve yet to have the pleasure of meeting, we took that very opportunity today while parked at the company’s CeBIT booth. A trio of colors were around for demoing, so we walked our camera around to tag all three. You know the critics think this machine’s a-okay, but does it live up to your demanding style standards?
