ASUS G73JH-A1 is great gaming laptop for the price. Gorgeous, smooth graphics in Star Trek Online, DDO, Champions Online and Team Fortress 2 with the sliders cranked just shy of the max. EAX sound is amazing: even sounds decent out of the built-in speakers. ASUS G73JH-A1 CPU performance and multitasking is sweet and responsive. I have multi-surfed Word, Visual Studio and Photoshop CS with no lag or issues. More ports than you can shake a stick at: plenty of USB, eSATA, FireWire (1394) and even HDMI. Bluetooth devices are easily paired. Amazing Windows 7 performance. ASUS G73JH-A1 is the most powerful laptop I have seen at this price point.

MSI GT660 is a new GT series gaming laptop. MSI GT660 with a quad Core i7 processor and a GeForce GTX 285M for graphics with 1GB GDDR3 display memory, and the GT660 is one of MSI’s first notebooks with USB 3.0 ports, Windows 7 as the operating system of choice. There is no word on a price or other specifications. MSI has promising to say more about MSI GT660 at CeBIT in March 2010. If you need a 3D laptop, then I recommend the MSI GT660.

ASUS G51JX-A1 screen and size of the laptop feel a lot bigger than the 15.6". I think it is the illusion created by the HD 16-9 format screen and the high native resolution 1920×1080. Win 7 seems to run very quickly on the machine and it frankly is a huge upgrade of Vista/XP. The 9-volt battery should be standard or at least an option. Nonetheless, the battery life is the main reason why I gave the machine four stars and not five. Also, the 120W ASUS power brick is exactly that a brick. I like the keyboard now, but it did take some getting used to. I really loved this laptop, i say loved because i just didnt think it was necessary for me, since i already have a PS3, 360, and a gaming Desktop, so yes it was a bit overkill.

ASUS X77 is okay for gaming and HD playback too. Something that might let me check e-mail if I was lucky enough to find a connection; would let me save, edit, and show the photos and short videos I’d taken during this and previous visits; and that I might be able to use to do small word-processing tasks here and there. ASUS X77 comes with all slots as advertised, but you might have trouble finding the SD slot; the manufacturers slide a protective piece of plastic into it, with the result that the front edge looks like it has no openings.

Today we popped in at Clevo’s booth to snap a few shots of its mammoth M980NU. While the girth was impossible to not notice, the palm rest, keyboard and top control panel were downright ritzy.Powered by an Intel Core 2 Extreme X9100 3.06GHz processor, up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M graphic card with 1GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive.The Clevo M980NU gaming laptop has a 18.4-inch 1920×1080p Full HD display, WiFi, an ExpressCard slot, and HDMI output.From first hand experience, I have to agree that 1920×1080 is a bit vertically challenged as far as real estate goes. Except when watching a Blu-ray movie.
