Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4036 regularly gets 3.5 hours on the battery with only the screen brightness turned down a bit. I really enjoy this. The video card is listed as an ATI Radeon 4250, which it is, but the M880 chipset for it gives it power way beyond the Radeon 4250′s power in itself. When I checked the GPU benchmarks, the M880 chipset Radeon 4250 was consistently ranked middle of the pack, above such GPUs as the ATI Radeon HD 5145.
Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4036 is nice and portable, and the size is perfect for carrying with me. The screen isn’t small to where it creates any issues with seeing for me; I’m actually enjoying the fact that it is shorter and I can cradle it in my lap perfectly and totally comfortably.
The keyboard is not one with a full NumPad, but that doesn’t bother me much. The keys don’t have a loose sensation at all, which I really enjoy. I am still getting used to the location of a few of my keys, especially the backspace, but I’ll certainly get used to it soon enough. The trackpad isn’t bad; you can tweak it however you like. One major issue I noticed right away is that the Webcam drivers were so out of date that the webcam wouldn’t work when I first got the computer. I tried to update it and was told that this was already the newest available driver, but it still didn’t work. I ended up taking it off altogether and restarting the computer and it works just fine now. Just a word of warning for those who are looking at this one: The webcam may take a second of fiddling with to get it set up correctly. It is nothing too bad, and there are guides all over the internet explaining how to do this.
Other minor gripes, the touchpad can be seems a bit insensitive at times, even with it turned up almost all the way… The two finger scrolling also isn’t as intuitive as it was with my last ASUS. I also have to press the power button to get it out of sleep. All minor gripes that I will come to terms with soon, after which I will be completely satisfied with my purchace.
These are my impressions after a few days with Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4036. Great specs and performance for the money! I’ll be sure to update this review if anything else comes to mind. I want to add that the sound quality that comes out of these speakers is not that bad at all! Look in the Control Panel for a utility called SmartAudio. It controls all the sound output for the computer and will give you much greater control over your desired sound. You can go into the SmartAudio settings and have it appear in the System Tray if you’re going to be listening to a lot of music!

Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q890 is so fast, the screen is incredibly, I watched a blu-ray on it already and was quite impressed. It is large, and it is quite heavy, but I knew that going into the purchase. The reason I chose such a large and heavy system is because I did need something portable, but I also needed something that would serve in the desktop capacity as well. It has thoroughly met my expectations and exceeded them.
Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q890 laptop has pretty much replaced my desktop. It is unbelievably fast and, more important, reliable.
PROS: Huge screen, lighted keyboard, fast processor, HDMI and VGA outputs, OPTICAL! sound ouput (doubles as headphone jack), card reader, boots in 15 seconds.
CONS: The 64 gig solid state drive is small when some programs insist on putting their files on the C: drive instead of the 500 gig drive. No DVI output.
I have to say that I am extremely impressed with Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q890.

HP Pavilion dv7-4080us was advertised as having quad processors, bluetooth, backlit keyboard, express slot, one usb charging capability when computer is turned off. It has none of the items. It has 3 processors with 4 way processing through up to 8 threads. I am not a gamer so cannot comment on gaming speed. Other reviews say this is not a good gamer. For what I use it for it is plenty fast. It downloaded a 48 megabite file in 12 seconds on 3 gb dsl wifi. My Toshiba Centrino would take about 1.5 to 2 minutes. I wanted the speed for making DVDs. Have not tried this yet. The HD LED screen is incredible. The battery life is okay. Four hours with mixed use of web and data entry to Office 2010 Pro. Overall I like what the computer does, but, I bought a product that does not have what they said it did and HP says nothing more than sorry it does not have those functions.

Acer Aspire TimelineX AS3820T-5246 processing speed is quick for what I do. Downloads are fast. And the biggest plus, this laptop does not get HOT like my old one. The Battery life is outstanding! I surfed the web for over two hours(unplugged from the ac adaptor) before I came to write this review, my indicator is showwing 90% 8 hours left! WOW!!! Granted, I did some tweaking to the display and power adjustments. But still, 8 hours left after two hours of surfing the net. I love this laptop!
If you’re looking to webcam with this laptop, you’ll be disappointed. You need to be outside for the proper lighting. Or you can have the lamp light your face if you’re indoors. I have adjusted the webcam to a certain degree, but still the quality wasn’t there. But like I mentioned before, the soul purpose is for writing. The trackpad is not as sensitive to multi-gestures as I would like. For the price of 699.99 with no tax and free shipping. I highly suggest the Acer Aspire TimelineX AS3820T-5246 to everyone who is in my position.

HP Pavilion dv6-3050us is perfect with its combination of a quad core CPU and Radeon 56xx series GPU. It has the best combination of aesthetic design, build quality, and components. It will be hard to find another laptop at a low price with these components and a 15.6" screen – others are 17" which can be bulky to carry around. The 1366×768 screen is good for tasks such as videos and gaming, but it might not be enough for those used to and require higher resolutions. The only negatives about this laptop are the lack of a firewire port (for the video folks) and an ExpressCard slot, and weak sound. Also, a couple things that aren’t listed in the product description is that the HP logo on the lid lights up when turned on and an integrated Radeon 4250.
The Graphics
I recommend staying away from laptops by Toshiba, Sony, and Panasonic to prospective buyers that plan on playing games and considering similarly spec’d laptops. AMD offered to release Catalyst drivers for Mobility Radeons several months ago and these companies chose to opt out. This means that if there’s a problem with the laptop’s graphics driver e.g. game glitches, you will have to wait/hope that these companies release updated drivers instead of downloading ones released regularly by AMD.
As far as the Radeon 5650, it’s been great thus far. I’ve been running Battlefield: Bad Company 2 smoothly at 1080p on an external monitor with settings on high, and AA and AF off. It will easily play most games out for the PC today and many games coming out. For the programmers out there interested in OpenCL, the 5650 is compatible and only requires downloading the Stream SDK from AMD.
The addition of the integrated Radeon 4250 is also welcomed. It allows for PowerXpress for power savings when running on battery or just to cut down on the electric bill. For those wondering, PowerXpress is AMD’s version of switchable graphics. The general difference being PowerXpress is the combination of integrated and dedicated Radeon graphics, while switchable graphics is the combination of Intel HD integrated and either Nvidia or AMD graphics. This is another driver update consideration because Intel doesn’t give driver updates to AMD for their graphics – users will have to rely on the company from which they buy their laptops.
The Processor
AMD mobile CPUs have gotten a bad reputation for running hot. It’s my opinion that it’s just laptop manufacturers choosing to pair cheap parts and poor cooling solutions with AMD CPUs because they’re "cheap" processors. In fact, the areas that get hottest on the dv6 are the left palm rest where the hard drive resides underneath and the vent on the left side where the laptop fan shunts the heat produced by the CPU and GPU under full load. Rest assured that the dv6 will run as cool as laptops with the Core i processors.
Now, the N930 shouldn’t be compared to the Core i7. This CPU is designed and priced to compete with the Core i5 and i3 CPUs. The caveat to comparing it to the i5 and i3 is that the i5 and i3 are dual core with the i5 able to trick Windows into thinking it has 4 cores through Intel’s Hyperthreading technology. With Turbo Boost technology on both Core i3 and i5, the Intel processors will perform better on single threaded applications due to their ability to intelligently overclock while the N930 maxes out on its 2.0 GHz limit. The N930 shines with multithreaded programs where it matches or beats i5 processors. For most users, none of this matters since performance differences in everyday programs like web browsers and Microsoft Office are unnoticeable.
The Power Consumption
Because the N930 is a true quad core, actual battery life for the dv6 is 2.5-3 hours with wireless on, Radeon 4250 activated, and 60% screen brightness while doing light tasks like listening to music, web browsing, and typing documents. Laptops sporting CPUs with fewer cores will have longer battery life due to less cores needing power.
HP Pavilion dv6-3050us is by far the best computer for under $1000 it has satisfied every single one of my needs and more. It is blazing fast has good battery life and the powerful processor coupled with the high end graphics card is perfect for gaming even on the most intense of pc games. All in all this an amazing computer it has no problems and i would recommend it to anyone even a total stranger walking down the street.

Acer Aspire AS7740G-6364 has 6 cell battery too and it the battery gets out in only 1 and half hour. The battery doesn’t last long enough to run a HD DVD or download a movie from netflix. Need to plug it in to ba able to watch the whole movie. Of course I use it in a bright room and need to set the screen brightness very high. I was probably one of the lucky ones having no issues with the graphics card. I love the keyboard, and the option to turn off the touch mouse thing is neat as well as a separate area for the number keys rather than the [function + key] on other laptops. The sound to me isn’t so bad, but as you make it louder the quality gets much worst. I love the screen as well. Wish the hard drive was 7200 but it isn’t too bad. The design doesn’t look too bad, either; the inside looks nice and professional, and the outside is nice, but a fingerprint magnet. WIN 7 home does not back up over a network. The Pro version would have been better. 100% fps in league of legends and it ran very cool the whole time. Great shipping, price for $979.60 from Amazon, great deal for me going to be a great college laptop.

ASUS G73JH-A3 performance is well documented, it runs all of my games on the highest settings without a shudder. It has a beautiful 17.3-Inch HD display, 8 GB of ram and an unbeleivable TB of hard drive space. Backlit keyboard is nice and the chicklets don’t bother me a bit. Great hardware for a lot less than a similarly configured gaming laptop would run you. Easy access to HDD, wifi module, and RAM. Superb cooling with very low noise. Nice design is good. Love to watch movies on it while I am traveling from city to city. ASUS G73JH-A3 was a great purchase for me.

MSI GX740 speed is great and the detail of graphics produced is just as amazing! I know those who purchased are also enjoying theirs. You can easily surpass the 10.000 points in 3DMark06 on a laptop. The keyboard layout is somewhat of a nightmare for gamers as some of the buttons are very small, when compared with other laptops. It plays the game on the highest resolution with all the settings on high. The 9 cell battery dies in about an hour while playing if you are not connected to an outlet. The performance is awesome and I’ve played 12 hours at a time with no issues. I’d buy it again.

Sony VAIO EA is perfect for me. The key board is easy to use, the 14" 1366 x 768 LED screen is bright and the touch pad is just sensitive enough! Light weight too! Intel Core i5 Processor and 4GB RAM is even faster than my old Dell Inspiron laptop. I think Sony VAIO EA is built very well, and would argue it stands up to the much more expensive or name-brand models in the same class. Sony VAIO EA definitely earns 5 stars and I think anyone who is looking for an affordable, ultra-portable laptop with powerful performance will be very happy as well.

Toshiba Satellite A505-S6005 is so fast. Multitasking is a breeze because of the i3 Dual Core processor and I love the look. It has large hard drive. The speakers are the best laptop speakers. It is also one of the quietest laptop. Numbers keypad makes life a little easier. This laptop also has HDMI with CEC and I have yet figured out how to use it but it makes me feel better knowing that it’s there lol. The webcam and mic are a little shabby but I don’t plan on using it much so no big deal. The multitouch pad is boarderless which is great and has the finger zoom feature. Overall, Toshiba Satellite A505-S6005 laptop is super fast and has excellent features. This is definately the laptop to buy!!!
