HP G61-320US doesn’t have that cheap feel that some laptops have and it feels solidly built. It doesn’t bend or creak at all even when held by the edges. HP software that runs in the background is bulky, buggy and dramatically reduces performance and often interfere with other software. There’s no manual volume control on the machine. It probably won’t fit in the briefcase you used for your previous machine. No recovery disks come with the machine. The whole Windows 7 experience and lack of compatability with earlier Windows software and drivers. The wireless networking seems to work nicely.
